Where in the world is Travessia?

Inspired by one of my favorite wine blogs – Dr.Vino – who once in a while runs a post titled “Where in the wine world are we?” requesting readers to identify a vineyard site, this month I start a new feature here on the Travessia winery blog titled “Where in the World is Travessia?”

For this to actually work, I need your participation in two ways:

1. Send me a picture of a bottle of one of Travessia’s wines.  Besides the wine, the picture should also display a view of the town/city you live in or a place that you visited.  It's fine if the bottle has been emptied.

I will then post your picture here on the blog and that's when the second part of everyone's participation comes in.

2. Identify (guessing is fine) the location shown in the picture.  Just simply leave your answer in the comments.

The first reader to accurately and more precisely identify the location shown on the picture will be the winner of a bottle of wine or wine related gift.  I will give everyone 2 or 3 days to send in their “guess” before calling a winner.

I strongly encourage you to include your beautiful self in the picture along with the bottle and the view of the location.  Why?  Well, it’s much more interesting and believable.  Not required, but you'll make me happier :-)

First up…  my friend Ryan took a bottle of Travessia’s 2007 Vidal Blanc along with him on a weekend trip to a fairly distant place.  He sent me this picture:

I will give everyone a clue since this is the first time we do this… it’s somewhere in Europe.  Leave your guess in the comments section below.

UPDATE - 3/8/09
This wasn't really much of a contest since Robert Dwyer hit the target dead center right off the bat.  The picture was indeed taken in Zermatt, Switzerland.  Congrats to Robert and thank you to Richard and Bela for participating.  I'll need more pictures to do this again, so please send them in.  Thanks! No way! Very cool. I'll put a blog post up soon to explain why I guessed Zermatt. I've never been there but I've read about it and it sounds like an incredible place.
