I’ve been spending most recent evenings trying to finish my winery business plan… the fifth version of it. The good news is that I still haven’t given up but the $ numbers are pretty scary. Anybody out there who’s looking for an highly risky investment with a small long term return should contact me now…
So… I’m almost over the Pats loss. What hurts the most is the lost opportunity for perfection. What else can you say besides the fact that on Sunday night the Giants were the better team? The highlight I will really take from the Super Bowl was the 5 second shot of Super Model Gisele Bündchen up in the club seat drinking wine. There were plenty of commercials for beer companies and none for wine (I didn't expect to see any) but the wine industry couldn't have gotten a better endorsement… for free.
This past weekend we celebrated Gabriella's first b-day. It’s amazing how quickly time seems to pass. We had the whole family over the house and it was a great time. I took the opportunity to open the barrel of 2006 red and give out a tasting to those who dared to try it. Nobody spit it out which I took as a good sign. Now it’s time to bottle this wine and let it rest a few more months. If you want to give it a try… sign up.
Speaking of tasting, I’m looking forward to this weekend’s Boston Wine Expo. This is the largest trade and consumer wine event in the country, with 440 wineries and over 1,800 wines to be sampled from all over the world. I’ll be attending the “One Hour Wine Expert” seminar with Kevin Zraly on Sunday before the Grand Testing opens. I’m looking forward not only to tasting wines, especially the ones I cannot afford, but also to seeing how wineries present themselves at the show.
